Professor Mahmoud Shafiee is recognised as a world-leading researcher in the field of Energy Resilience, having been ranked as one of the world's top 1% of most influential scientists by Stanford University. He is now a Full Professor and Chair of Energy Resilience at the School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences, University of Surrey, UK. He has more than 20 years of research experience in the fields of Sustainable Energy Technologies, Energy Materials and Structures, Risk and Resilience of Energy Systems, Energy Structural Integrity and SHM, Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation, Inspection and Maintenance, and Sensors, as well as the use of Industry 4.0 Digital Technologies (such as Digital Twins, Internet of Things, and Cyber-Physical Systems) in Smart Energy Grids. He has published over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and major conference proceedings
